How Gold Behaves
Module 10 — Reading Gold Market Structure
Structure on gold is read exactly as it is on any other market: a series of highs and lows that either progress in one direction or rotate inside a range.
- Uptrend — higher highs and higher lows
- Downtrend — lower highs and lower lows
- Range — repeated rotation between an upper and a lower boundary
Because gold moves quickly, structure can look broken on a five-minute chart while remaining intact on the four-hour. Always establish structure on the higher timeframe first.
Key concepts
- Higher highs and lows describe uptrend
- Lower highs and lows describe downtrend
- Ranges have external boundaries
Practical example
An M5 decline can remain only a pullback inside an H4 uptrend.
Common mistake
Letting lower-timeframe noise redefine the higher-timeframe structure.
