Support & Resistance

Part Four — Application

Chapter 12 — Conservative Trading Methodology

This chapter is the InstaSwich philosophy. It is not optional technique; it is the standard of behaviour expected of an InstaSwich trader.

  • Capital preservation — the account is the business. Protect it before anything else.
  • Never chase price — if the move has gone without you, it was not your trade.
  • Never buy into resistance — buying directly beneath an obvious level is buying into the sellers.
  • Never sell into support — selling directly above an obvious level is selling into the buyers.
  • Wait for confirmation — the market must demonstrate the change of direction first.
  • Trade only confirmed reactions — an unconfirmed level is analysis, not a trade.
  • Protect capital first — a smaller position that survives beats a large one that does not.
  • Profit second — profit is the consequence of discipline, never the objective of a single trade.
  • Long-term sustainability — trade in a way you could repeat for ten years.
  • Professional discipline — the same rules on a good day and a bad one.

Key concepts

  • Capital preservation comes first
  • Never chase price
  • Professional discipline is consistent

Practical example

When a move leaves without confirmation, the conservative trader records it and waits for another opportunity.

Common mistake
